If you have difficulty in paying your metered water bill, contact us at the earliest opportunity so we can look at how we can help you.

We will be supporting those of you who experience a rise in your bills with a Changeover Tariff which will give you time to adjust to metered charges.

If you choose to opt on to the Changeover Tariff the increase in your bills will be phased in gradually over three years to give you time to take control of your water use and your bill.

You can use our online Home Saver Check, to find out where you can save water and we will give you lots of advice when your meter is installed.

We will also support customers who have genuine difficulty in paying their bills with a Support Tariff.

If you would like to benefit from the Support Tariff you must agree to a free Home Saver Check in your home to help reduce water and energy use and the installation of free water saving devices.

You will then be offered a free financial review by an independent company which can help identify benefits you are entitled to and which will recommend if you are eligible to move on to the Support Tariff.

On the tariff your bill would be capped at the equivalent rate of your bill before you moved on to metered charges.

The Support Tariff is not the only option to help pay metered bills:

WaterSure, provides financial assistance to certain customers on meters with three or more children or people with medical conditions who use large amounts of water for essential purposes.

The Southern Water Charitable Trust Fund, is an independent grant making trust set up to help people unable to pay their water bills in our region.

The Water Direct Scheme, allows people who receive Job Seekers Allowance, Pension Credit or Income Related Employment and Support Allowance to have their bills paid to Southern Water out of their allowance to help budgeting.

We will provide more details on all the tariffs and support available when we install your water meter or you can contact our Metering Customer Call Centre on 0333 2003 012.
